From battles that remained in his memory to friends who stayed by his side: the brotherhood that became a way to cope

A combat soldier and commander in the Maglan Unit, Gili took part in the intense fighting during Operation Protective Edge. There, he lost three members of his team: Guy Algranti, Matan Gottlieb and Omer Hay, of blessed memory.

Gili does not describe himself as living with combat trauma, but believes that combat experiences exist on a spectrum and that almost every soldier carries something from the battlefield. He found his way to process these experiences mainly alongside the teammates who were there with him: friends who became family, a safe place and a source of strength even years after the fighting.
